It was in September that a man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of espionage.
He was at the time a high-ranking chief within a state authority and already had a background in, among others, the Security Police, Säpo, and the Swedish Armed Forces' intelligence service Must, where he was active in
Two months later, the man's younger brother, who is also said to have worked at Säpo for some time, was also arrested on suspicion of espionage.
The prosecutor believes that the brothers have seized foreign power and committed serious espionage between March 2011 and September 2021.
On Friday, both brothers were remanded in Stockholm District Court.
The prosecutor does not want to comment on the case and the two men's lawyers are subject to a restraining order.
The brothers, who are resident in Uppsala, will be detained until January 14, when a new remand hearing can be held.
Both deny the crime.
