According to media and medical reports, more than one Palestinian was injured as a result of attacks by settlers and occupation soldiers on several villages northwest of Nablus Governorate (central West Bank), hours after an armed attack in which an Israeli was killed.

Clashes erupted between Palestinians and the Israeli occupation forces in the villages of Burqa and Qaryut (northwest of Nablus) when settlers attempted to storm the two villages.

The occupation soldiers intervened to protect the settlers, and fired metal bullets and tear gas canisters.

Palestinian sources reported that 25 homes were attacked by settlers in several villages northwest of Nablus since last night.

Settlers also destroyed a number of Palestinian vehicles near the entrance to the town of Sebastia (north of Nablus).

The Israeli occupation army reinforced its forces in the West Bank, and launched a massive campaign of arrests, following the killing of a settler and the injury of two others near the outpost of Homesh (north of Nablus).

Palestinian and Israeli sources said that the Israeli army intensified the closure and combing procedures in and around Nablus in search of two Palestinians believed to have carried out the attack.

Palestinian sources reported that Israeli forces arrested last night and this Friday morning 7 residents of Jenin and Nablus, and confiscated tapes of surveillance cameras.

In Hebron, settlers attacked Palestinian farmers while plowing their lands threatened to be seized in the areas of Al-Hamra, Al-Khrouba, and Al-Arqoub, and tried to prevent them from accessing it.

Palestinian call

For its part, the Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah) called on the European Union countries to take urgent steps against the "violence of terrorist settlers."

The Palestinian presidency also warned that the escalation of attacks by Israeli settlers in the West Bank would keep the region in a cycle of violence.

The presidency called for international action to stop these attacks, considering that settler terrorism is increasing on a daily basis with the encouragement and protection of the Israeli occupation government.

"No one will enjoy stability if the Palestinian people do not enjoy it, and these practices will keep the region in a cycle of violence," she added.
