The alarm came at 00.30.
Then a loud bang should have been heard in connection with the fire.
- When we got there, it was a fully developed fire in a basement.
Three people had already left their homes, says Jon Forsärla, operations manager at the rescue service in Tranås.
Knocked out windows
The fire and explosion knocked out windows on the ground floor and also windows on the neighboring property were affected.
- It was a real blow, says Jon Forsärla to SVT Nyheter Jönköping.
No person should have been seriously injured during the incident.
Some of the residents and a neighbor who tried to put out the flames suffered minor smoke damage.
Several of those who live in the property had to find new places to sleep due to the strong smoke development.
No crime
What caused the explosion and the fire is currently unclear.
- But we do not suspect that any crime has been committed, says Jon Forsärla.
The police have cordoned off an area pending the technical investigation.
- We left the place at three o'clock, but will have a couple of people left for follow-up, says Jon Forsärla.
