The man had several political assignments on behalf of the Center Party in Uppsala County when he was charged in the autumn of 2020 with the purchase of sexual acts by children.
The party felt that his trust was exhausted, and a few days later he left the party completely.
The acts have taken place at various hotels in central Stockholm, including the Grand Hotel.
The child was at times 16-17 years old and the contact between them took place via a so-called sugar dating site.
The Court of Appeal agrees with the district court that it is not beyond a reasonable doubt that they had intercourse with each other, partly because the girl states that she does not remember, and the perpetrator denied that they had sex.
At the same time, the court states that the man gave the girl money at the meetings, and that at at least one of the meetings he knew her real age.
The man is therefore convicted of having tried to buy sexual acts from children on three different occasions.
The Court of Appeal judges that the acts correspond to one month's imprisonment, but since the former politician lost his job, he is sentenced to a suspended sentence with a 40-day fine of SEK 1,430.
The man must also pay SEK 800 according to the law on crime victim funds.
