"Nowadays, more and more Hungarian people have a keen interest in Chinese culture. This is inseparable from generations of overseas Chinese taking root in the local area and promoting it day after day." Chinese Hungarian youth, Chinese-European culture Ma Wenjun, chairman of the Art Sports Association, said in an interview with a reporter from China News Agency recently.

Before coming to settle in Hungary, Ma Wenjun lived and worked in Vietnam, North Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and other countries. In 2012, he came to Hungary and decided to settle here.

Ma Wenjun and friends from various European countries jointly established the China-Europe Culture, Art and Sports Association in 2014. Over the years, they have been committed to promoting exchanges between China and European countries in the fields of culture, art, and sports.

"In Hungary, Chinese food, Chinese medicine, and Chinese Kung Fu are all deeply rooted Chinese cultural symbols." Ma Wenjun said that the local people's initial understanding of Chinese culture often comes from Chinese food. Through tasting delicious flavors and communicating with Chinese restaurant owners, they are deeply knowledgeable. Attracted by Chinese food culture, they also have a good impression of China.

He introduced that traditional Chinese medicine also has a good public foundation in Hungary. Hungary is the first country in Europe to legislate on traditional Chinese medicine. People often go to traditional Chinese medicine clinics to ask for medicine. Since the outbreak, traditional Chinese medicine has become an important support for everyone to prevent and fight the epidemic. .

“This is not only due to the excellent curative effect of Chinese medicine, but also the hard work of Hungarian Chinese medicine practitioners.” Ma Wenjun said, Dr. Yu Funian, Dr. Zhang Qingbin, and Dr. Chen Zhen were among the first to come to Hungary to spread the culture of Chinese medicine. The messengers of China, and then many well-known Chinese medicine practitioners came to Hungary one after another. With their superb medical skills, they have made countless Chinese medicine fans.

Chinese Kung Fu is also very popular in Hungary.

Ma Wenjun told reporters that the Hungarian police textbooks combine Zen martial arts with daily police training. The author is Shi Xinghong, a disciple of Shaolin Temple and the chief instructor of the Hungarian Police Headquarters. Wu opened his branches overseas.

Coming back and forth between China and Hungary all the year round, Ma Wenjun is also a witness of the friendship between China and Hungary.

"Hungary was one of the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China. The relationship between China and Hungary has always been very good. When the epidemic broke out in China, Hungary was one of the first countries to provide China with anti-epidemic supplies, and Hungary was also the first. EU countries that have approved the use of China’s new crown vaccine.”

In his view, the overseas Chinese have always been civil envoys of Sino-Hungarian friendship.

"The overseas Chinese in Hungary worked hard and established their own business, involved in import and export trade, catering, retail and other industries. At the same time, they also provided locals with many job opportunities to help them develop together."

He added that under the epidemic, the overseas Chinese in Hungary organized spontaneously and donated a large amount of anti-epidemic materials to governments, schools, hospitals and related institutions at all levels in Hungary, which also made more Hungarians feel the Chinese friendship.

Over the years, Ma Wenjun and the China-Europe Culture, Art and Sports Association have also done a lot of practical work for Sino-Hungarian cultural exchanges.

"We have invited a Chinese medicine delegation to visit Hungary, assisted the embassy in inviting Kung Fu superstar Jackie Chan to participate in the'Hungary 2017 Chinese Film Exhibition', and cooperated with the European Chinese Chess Federation to organize a chess invitational tournament."

“Some time ago, I heard that a cultural tourism project in Jinling, a small town called Yanjili, was newly completed in my hometown of Jiangning District, Nanjing. Friends carry out cultural exchanges and accumulate new materials." Ma Wenjun said.

He said that under the epidemic situation, it is temporarily impossible to invite more overseas friends to China, so he will promote Chinese culture by holding calligraphy and painting exhibitions and photography exhibitions in Hungary, and organizing art groups to enter campuses.

"At the same time, we also convey the goodwill of the Hungarian people to China. We hope that more Chinese people can come to Hungary for tourism and investment after the epidemic, so that people-to-people exchanges will become more enthusiastic." (End)
