Isomata said, "Bilateral relations between Japan and the UAE have developed over the past 50 years in areas that go beyond long-term cooperation in the field of oil exploration and trade, such as: infrastructure, renewable energy, outer space, food, health care, tourism, sports, creative industries, and others."

The Japanese ambassador added to "Emirates Today", "The two countries are working together in the field of education and human resource development, which I think is very important for shaping the future of the two countries together."

He pointed out that "in four years from now, Japan will host (Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai), whose theme will be designing a future society for a better life.

Isomata stated that Abu Dhabi participated in the "Expo 1970 Osaka", and after 50 years, Japan is now participating in "Expo 2020 Dubai", so that the link will continue in the next "Expo" in Osaka again.

He said, "In this context, we are pleased to celebrate the strong relations that exist between Japan and the UAE, as the two countries will celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations next year.

I believe that the potential for the further development of our relations in the future is enormous, and I hope that we can open a new path for the future side by side based on the legacy of (Expo 2020 Dubai) this year and beyond.”

He noted that 27% of the UAE's crude oil exports go to Japan, which is the largest importer of oil from the UAE.

In addition, the main export items from Japan to the UAE are cars and machinery.

He considered that the UAE is an important trading partner for Japan, and will remain so in the future.

According to data from the Ministry of Economy, the volume of Japanese direct investments in the UAE until the beginning of 2020 amounted to about $4.01 billion, achieving a growth of 22.6% during the years from 2015 to 2020, as Japan ranks 10th globally in terms of countries investing in the UAE, and is a trading partner The UAE is the eighth globally in terms of non-oil foreign trade, whose volume between the two countries during the first 10 months of 2020 amounted to about $8.95 billion.
