Twelve people were arrested on Tuesday in the Nantes metropolitan area and in the Paris region as part of a gendarmerie investigation into a vast system of fraud in partial unemployment benefits, announced on Wednesday the public prosecutor of Rennes, Philippe. Astruc.

Aged 26 to 69, the twelve suspects, including three women, are in custody this Wednesday.

They are suspected of having participated in a massive fraud of compensation paid to companies by the State in the context of the health crisis.

The estimated damage ultimately relates to "more than three million euros", specifies Philippe Astruc, confirming information from the newspaper

A judicial investigation of the heads of organized gang fraud, aggravated money laundering and violation of the prohibition to manage has been opened.

The investigation was launched last April by the Specialized Interregional Jurisdiction (Jirs) of Rennes following a report targeting a Nantes company spotted by the labor inspection services.

Some suspects are already known to the courts for economic and financial offenses, specifies the Rennes prosecutor.
