It was on Saturday night that the man, who is a resident of Västernorrland, was arrested by police on suspicion of having tried to kill a man of the same age in central Hammarstrand.
The man was later arrested by prosecutors.
The Östersund District Court has now decided to detain the man on probable cause on suspicion of both attempted murder and aggravated unlawful threats.
- He has made some concessions, says prosecutor Kajsa Starlander to SVT Nyheter Jämtland.
But further interrogations will be held.
The man who was the victim of the murder attempt is being treated at Östersund Hospital for his injuries.
Prosecution must be filed no later than January 12, 2022.
