• The “Bordeaux wine week” will be organized for the first time from June 15 to 26, 2022

  • It will bring together the general public event of the wine festival and the professional one of the ex-Vinexpo.

  • The idea is to offer ten days that are both cultural, festive, tourist and scientific, for the general public and professionals with activities, tastings, conferences, etc.

The event is presented as a new impetus for the entire wine industry, after two years marked by the Covid-19 epidemic.

“Bordeaux wine week” will be organized for the first time from June 15 to 26, 2022, bringing together the general public event of the wine festival and the professional event of the ex-Vinexpo (see box) while enriching the program.

"It is the UBB of wine here, it is the union", launched this Wednesday, during the presentation of the event to the press, Rodolphe Lameyse, general manager of Vinexposium, organizer of professional events in the wine and spirits area.

This general mobilization should also make people forget the downside of the choice of Dijon for the installation of the headquarters of the International Organization of Vine and Wine, last October.

Not just "a quayside party"

"Bordeaux celebrates wine", organized by the wine industry and the tourist office, will not be just a "quayside party", launched the director of the tourist office Brigitte Bloch. On the model of what was done last year, due to health obligations, it will begin in preview from Thursday, June 16 in restaurants and wine merchants in the Metropolis. It will also be played in music in the partner concert halls and in festive spaces created for the occasion, "in a guinguette spirit".

From June 23 to 26, the traditional tastings will be organized over a longer length of the quays than in previous years.

And, around each appellation stand, a showcase of regional products and games for children should help create a "village" atmosphere, explains Brichitte Bloch, who confirms that boats will also be stopping over along. docks, for the occasion.

"This is a new meeting for all wine-growing regions, with a focus on organic and eco-responsible certifications which I hold dear", commented the mayor of Bordeaux Pierre Hurmic (EELV), during the presentation of the event. .

A Picasso exhibition and exceptional tastings

From April 15, the exhibition "Picasso, the effervescence of forms" will be presented at the Cité du Vin until the end of the "Bordeaux Wine Week".

Some 80 works, notably on loan from the Picasso museum in Paris and that of Barcelona, will explore for the first time the place of wine in the artist's work.

And, from June 16 to 19, a special weekend will be organized by the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux “to discover 120 Bordeaux Grands Crus through tastings, visits to the properties and dinners in the châteaux and in Bordeaux ”, explain the organizers.
