As often, Kaïs Saïed took everyone by surprise.

While his speech was expected for

December 17

- the anniversary of the immolation of

Mohamed Bouazizi

which marked the start of the 2011 revolution - the Tunisian president has, it seems, preferred to hasten his calendar.

No doubt to better cut the grass under the feet of his opponents who had planned several events this week.

Four and a half months after having taken

full power

, the strong man of Carthage finally details his agenda.

Several political deadlines will punctuate the year 2022 in Tunisia, starting with a popular and electronic consultation from January to March.

A referendum on a revised Constitution will then be held on July 22.

Then, legislative elections will take place from December 17, 2022.

In the meantime, the Tunisian parliament remains frozen.

Opponents of President Saïed have already planned to signify their refusal of these measures by calling for a demonstration next Friday, December 17, the eleventh anniversary of the Tunisian revolution.
