The affair had aroused strong emotion and mobilized the gendarmes for several weeks.

In September 2015, a man told the police that he had just been the victim of a robbery at a shooting range in the town of Laudun, in the Gard, of which he was the host.

The gendarmes had not been able to find the perpetrators… but had ended up discovering the truth.

This alleged robbery had never taken place.

The host was sentenced by the Nîmes criminal court to one year in prison.

Many undeclared weapons discovered at the former president

At the hearing, he explained that he had followed the indications of the president of the shooting club at the time.

In this person, the gendarmes during the searches discovered a stock of undeclared weapons, but unrelated to the weapons stolen from the shooting club.

The then president denied having any responsibility for the bogus heist.

He was also sentenced to a one-year suspended prison sentence, a ban on holding a weapon for five years and the destruction of the seals found during the searches.
