The price of gasoline in the country reaches 1.73 euros per liter on average, 1.63 euros for diesel.

An increase that has led truckers to protest since Sunday, December 12 for the second time in a month.

They organized a blockade operation in the port of the capital, Dublin.

A ferry has just docked, dozens of trucks are moving slowly out of the port.

David Killane, driver, stood in the middle of the lane to block traffic: “

 Gasoline is too expensive.

Insurance is on the rise.

Our spare parts have doubled, but our wages are stagnant.

This is no longer possible.

The carbon tax must be reduced, but there is no will to do so.

"

No spokesperson, organized on social networks, the event is inspired by the French “yellow vests”.

Michael estimates that he lost 30% of purchasing power in six months.

He crossed the country to come.

He feels forgotten by the government.

We truck drivers are at the bottom of the ladder, the government should respect us a little more,

" he said indignantly.

They are rotten.

All we ask is a little respite.

We have families to feed, we should be working today, but we have no choice but to come and block the city.

Otherwise, our jobs will no longer be profitable, it's that simple.

"

New actions to come

The truck drivers would have liked to see more participants.

Stuck in a traffic jam, Patrick Flaherty cannot afford to participate: “

My boss needs me, and I need to be paid.

Of course, it's chaotic, it's not pleasant to be stuck, but there is no longer a choice: the government is not listening to us.

The truckers predict other blockages in the coming weeks.
