151 events and 284 artworks at the “Tadaqat” Islamic Arts Festival

Muhammad Ibrahim Al Qasir: “Sharjah brings us together to speak one global language, the language of arts.”

The Director of the Department of Cultural Affairs in the Department of Culture in Sharjah, Director of the Islamic Arts Festival, Muhammad Ibrahim Al-Qusair, announced the details of the 24th session "Tradations", which will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the Union and Ruler of Sharjah, and its activities will start tomorrow from Sharjah Art Museum, noting that the art event will host 151 events and 284 artworks by 63 male and female artists, from 27 countries from around the world, over a period of 40 days.

This came during a press conference held in the conference hall of the Department of Culture yesterday, in the presence of the head of the Department of Culture, Abdullah Muhammad Al Owais, and a number of artists participating in the festival, in addition to the working committees, and local, Arab and international media, and it was presented by the media, Noura Shaheen.

In his speech, Al Qaseer said: "We welcome you to Sharjah, which is the home of culture and arts. As Islamic arts bring us together today, through your creations, they also bring us together to speak in one global language, the language of arts... which is the civilizational language that unites humanity among the peoples of the world."

He said: "24 years ago, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the Union and Ruler of Sharjah, laid the foundation stone for a global art project, represented in the Islamic Arts Festival, in order to restore an artistic legacy that has its own aesthetics and historical connotations. He left his mark hundreds of years ago to this day, and as he achieves his credibility, this is thanks to His Highness’s wise vision in raising the cultural and artistic discourse together, to take it as a path to the renaissance of this intellectual project.”

He added: “The festival stands today on the verge of a quarter of a century, which is sufficient time to infer the success of the artistic event over the past years, and to follow up on a global creative scene gathering in Sharjah.

As the festival occupies an important place in the global art scene, its progress comes thanks to the generous sponsorship of His Highness, the Ruler of Sharjah, and this sponsorship is based on His Highness’s belief in the importance of supporting culture and the arts.”

Explaining the theme of the festival “gradations,” Al-Qusair said that it is a slogan that refers to composition, construction and arrangement, and “perhaps every creative process arises from gradation.”

He added: "The participating artists, with their different tools, methods and expressive styles, tried to examine this concept according to their own perceptions, and to serve as an indicative sign on the path of discovery they follow, leading to the formulation of a visual achievement that possesses formal and plastic eloquence that is consistent with the logo."

Al-Qusair said: "We are on a date with 151 events, including exhibitions, art workshops, and lectures, hosted by the Department of Culture in cooperation with 26 entities in Sharjah, including the Arab Photographers Union, the Photographic Society, the Emirates Society for Fine Arts, and other entities in Sharjah."

He continued, "The events include 49 exhibitions hosted by the Sharjah Art Museum, the House of Wisdom in Sharjah, the Sharjah Calligraphy Museum, the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Complex, Al Majaz Waterfront, the Emirates Society for Arabic Calligraphy and Islamic Decoration, Khor Fakkan Amphitheater in the Eastern Province, and other destinations in the emirate.

He said: "63 artists from 27 Arab countries will participate in this year's festival, led by the UAE with 16 male and female artists, while the rest of the participants were distributed among Arab countries such as Iraq, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Yemen, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait and Syria... as well as from foreign countries, including Spain, France and India. The United Kingdom, the United States of America, Turkey, Denmark, Canada, Hong Kong and Germany... We must point out in this context that Serbia is participating for the first time in the festival.”

He added, "It is expected that 284 artworks of equipment, fonts, murals, and paintings in authentic calligraphy and decoration will be presented, while 98 art workshops will be organized."

“The Lights of Hearts” and “Manifestations”

Najat Makki, and it will be held at the Sharjah Calligraphy Museum, where it will include eight diverse artworks.. And the exhibition “Tajjayat” by the Syrian calligrapher Jalal Al-Mohareb, and it will be held in the homes of calligraphers, where the exhibition will tell the story of the beauty of the Arabic letter through various calligraphic works, as well as other personal exhibitions that will be Organizing it in the Calligraphy Square, as mentioned among the artworks participating in the festival .. The work of “The Path” by Modu Method and Laith Mahdi, and it will be held in a center for designs - 1971, and other works that will take place in various regions of Sharjah.
