The Ministry of Culture and Youth revealed the details of the second edition of the Al Burda Festival, which will be held at the Dubai Exhibition Center, "Expo 2020 Dubai", during the period from December 19 to 21, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, under the slogan " Spaces for transit.. worlds of discovery,” in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the founding of the UAE, and carries with it the values ​​of openness, coexistence and tolerance.

The Minister of Culture and Youth, Noura bint Muhammad Al Kaabi, said, "The Al Burda Festival seeks to highlight Islamic arts and the importance of Islamic civilization that glorifies the values ​​of tolerance and human and civil interaction through these arts, which are a rich heritage, whether in terms of humanity, civilization, or value.”

She explained that "the Ministry of Culture and Youth seeks to have inspiring artistic and cultural communication between peoples, in order to create a bright future, which is what the Al-Burda Award has aspired to since its inception 17 years ago and has been striving for until today, as well as the Al-Burda Festival, which was established in 2018 through Shedding light on Islamic arts, as the festival proved to be one of the most important events in the world in the cultural field in general, and the field of Islamic arts in particular, for its great role in introducing civilization, culture and authentic Islamic arts throughout history.

She stressed that the UAE is an incubator of culture and human and civilized diversity, especially with the presence of more than 200 nationalities living on its land, noting that the "Al Burda Award" is an important model that confirms the UAE's role in perpetuating the idea of ​​human encounter, as it attracts in its 16th edition more than 1,557 creative participation from More than 56 countries around the world, and since its establishment, it has celebrated more than 300 artists worldwide in the colors of Islamic arts and its main fields. The award constitutes an important basis for promoting and introducing our authentic Islamic human heritage, and contributes to building a generation that knows its past and is familiar with arts, aesthetics, and authentic Arab and Islamic heritage.

Over the three days of its convening, more than 74 speakers from around the world will participate in the Al Burda Festival in its second edition, through 65 programs, and it includes panel discussions, workshops and dialogue sessions, and attendees will have the opportunity to learn about Islamic art forms and enjoy performances inspired by different cultures in The Islamic world, and the festival also includes 15 exhibitions of Islamic artwork, in addition to 10 live performances from around the world, including the Middle East, Asia and Africa.

Organized by the Ministry of Culture and Youth with more than 30 strategic partners, the festival includes dialogue sessions that host global thought leaders in the field of Islamic arts and culture, discuss core topics, and provide new visions on the latest trends and ideas that shape the future.

Within the festival, performances and other films inspired by the Islamic world will be held, telling inspiring stories rooted in the history of the region, and targeting audiences of different interests and age groups, including children, and include a range of animations, documentaries, and feature films, in addition to the festival It celebrates Islamic decoration, Arabic calligraphy, Nabataean or classical poetry, and the arts of design.

The names of the winners of the "Al Burda Award" will be announced during the festival's activities, as it is one of the most prestigious international cultural awards in the field of Islamic arts.

Al-Burdah - is the poem composed by Imam Al-Busairi in praise of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, in the 12th century AD - and constituted an important illumination on Islamic cultural and artistic creativity, which continued in many main fields, including Islamic decoration, Arabic calligraphy, and poetry, whether Nabataean or Eloquent, and topographical design, all formed the basis for the award and its categories.
