The British government has already announced additional measures to combat the spread of the variant, including the extension of the vaccine booster campaign to over 30s from Monday.

From Tuesday, fully vaccinated contact cases of people who test positive for Covid-19 will also be asked to perform antigen tests daily for seven days, while those who are not vaccinated must remain isolated for ten days.
