large truck is stuck on the edge of the road.

The injured are lying around the scene of the accident, and victims can be seen covered in white cloths.

Some of the dead are children.

The accident took place in the Mexican state of Chiapas, a major transit point for migrants trying to smuggle into the United States.

A truck carrying more than 100 Latin American immigrants collided with an overpass as it lost balance while turning a curved road.

At least 54 people were killed in the accident, and more than 50 people were seriously injured.

[Marco Antonio Sanchez/Chiapas Fire Chief: Unfortunately, some people have already died from the shock of the accident.

We are now identifying the number of victims and transporting them.]

There were more migrants in the truck at the time of the accident, but it is said that some of them hurriedly left the scene, bleeding for fear of detection by the authorities.

At least 650 people have died in such accidents this year on the border between the United States and Mexico.

However, the procession of migrants from Latin America to the United States, dreaming of the American dream to escape poverty, criminal group violence, and the health risks posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, continues to increase.

[Brenda Martinez / Honduras immigrants: I am angry that the Mexican authorities continue to block the immigration procession.

There are children in the party who are very sick.]

Between January and September of this year, the number of undocumented immigrants caught by Mexican authorities was 190,000, three times the number of last year.
