On December 9, local time, the spokesperson of the UN Secretary-General Dujarric confirmed that the UN Secretary-General Guterres had received an invitation from the International Olympic Committee to attend the Beijing Winter Olympics, and Guterres had accepted the invitation.
Dujarric said that the Secretary-General of the United Nations has participated in almost all Olympics since the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
