A recent opinion poll showed that television channels, electronic news sites and newspapers gain the public's confidence in obtaining reliable and truthful news, with 59% for the first, and 57% for the second, while 87% of the public relies on social media to obtain news in general, Including newspaper platforms and news sites.

The survey, conducted by "Trends" for Research and Consulting, for the benefit of "Emirates Today", stated that the most reliable means for the public to obtain news is social media, "Social Media", including newspaper platforms and news sites by 87%, and in the second place news sites Electronic news by 38%, and news bulletins through television channels got 30%.

According to the results of the survey, television channels gain the confidence of community members within the country in obtaining news, by 59%, while electronic news websites came in third place with 57%, equal to social media, which obtained approximately the same percentage, and newspapers ranked in Fifth place with 52%, radio stations in sixth place with 50%, and news agencies ranked seventh with 45%.

The results of the survey revealed that 71% of the public in the country are interested in following news in general.

The survey confirmed that in the event that important events emerge, whether at the local or international level, the first source that respondents turn to to find out what is going on is electronic news sites and social media, at 87%.

This poll comes to monitor the most prominent trends of the public in obtaining news, according to reliability, and the most followed ones.

The newspaper "Emirates Today" and the "Trends" Center for Research and Consultations, recently signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation, with the aim of establishing a general framework for partnership and coordination between the two parties in the research and media fields, in order to achieve their common goals in supporting scientific research sober in the media, and employing it to serve the audience of readers, in addition to Providing a dose of scientific and knowledge in a simplified press content that suits different intellectual and age groups.

The memorandum seeks to achieve the objectives of both institutions in strengthening the bonds of the relationship between them, and maximizing the presence of scientific content from serious and sober studies and research, and opinion polls in the Emirati, Arab and international media.

Females are more involved

The sample size of the opinion poll, which was conducted by «Trends» for research and consultancy, for the benefit of «Emirates Today», reached 601 individuals in the UAE, and the percentage of female participation in the survey was higher than males, at 53% compared to 47% for males.

The percentage of non-Emirati respondents was 94%, compared to 6% for Emiratis. The highest age group that participated in the survey was the age group (30-39 years) at 45%, then the age group (40-49 years) at 25%, and ranked The third age group (18-29 years) by 20%, and finally the age group (50 years and over) by 10%.

80% of the respondents came from the Emirates of Abu Dhabi and Dubai, 30% for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and 50% for the Emirate of Dubai.
