Fredrik Nilsson was only 25 years old when he ended his life.

That he had suicidal thoughts was something that big brother Mats did not know.

- I met Fredrik the night before and everything seemed as usual.

There was no one in the family who suspected that this terrible thing could happen, says Mats Nilsson.

For many years, Mats found it difficult to talk about his brother's suicide with anyone other than the family and therefore chose not to go into talk therapy.

- We in the family talked a lot about what had happened and I thought I had processed the grief after my brother's death, he says.

The conversations were the salvation

In 2016, Mats Nilsson went for a health check in Arvidsjaur and it was found that he had high blood pressure.

After that it only took a few days so Mats got a TIA attack and was sent to Sunderby hospital where he stayed for observation for a week.

TIA is caused by a small blood clot that dissolves after a short time.

- The medical staff explained that it was largely due to my stress and all the grief that I had borne for so many years.

They offered me conversational support and that is the best thing that has happened to me, says Mats Nilsson.

"Go to therapy and find someone who listens"

Today, Mats feels much better, but eats blood pressure medication and medication for anxiety that comes and goes.

- To everyone who feels bad, my advice is to seek help.

Find someone who listens, says Nilsson.
