Kuwait joined the list of "Omicron countries", with the Ministry of Health announcing yesterday that it had recorded the first infection with the new Corona virus (Omicron) mutant after the results of genetic planning appeared.

While the official spokesman for the ministry, Abdullah Al-Sanad, said that the infection belongs to a European traveler who came to the country from an African country in which “Omicron” infections were recorded, “Al-Qabas” newspaper quoted government sources as saying that the injured arrived in the country with a negative PCR test, and a new examination was conducted for him. Upon arrival, his result was also negative, but the strict measures taken against those coming from countries where the new mutant is spread prompted him to be re-examined days later, where the second result was positive.

The sources reassured that the injured did not have contact with anyone after his arrival, and his health condition is stable and the symptoms of his injury are mild, as he was immediately institutionalized.

She added that the ministry periodically conducts genetic tests for the virus to find out the quality of the types of mutant circulating in the country, and to open up prospects for cooperation with countries of the world to unify efforts to combat corona and its mutants, and to succeed in eliminating the pandemic, in conjunction with the intensification of preventive measures through the ports to prevent any infections from entering from abroad. . 

An informed source at Kuwait International Airport revealed that the airport authorities have intensified their health procedures towards all arrivals to the country, saying: "It is inevitable that all health requirements be confirmed for them."

The source stressed that the airport's devices are in constant contact with the health authorities, saying: "Until yesterday evening, no new instructions were received in this regard."

The official spokesman for the Ministry of Health, Abdullah Al-Sanad, said: "The patient had received two doses of the approved Covid 19 vaccine earlier, stressing that he has been subject to (institutional) quarantine since his arrival in accordance with the protocols of the Ministry of Health that are updated in line with global health developments." .
