Yesterday, the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, inaugurated the first phase of the new seawater desalination plant in Umm Al Quwain, with a production of 50 million gallons per day.

The plant's total production capacity is scheduled to reach 150 million gallons per day, after the completion of all phases of the project, which is scheduled to be during the second half of next year.

The station was built on an area of ​​250 thousand square meters, at a cost of 2.2 billion dirhams.

Al Mazrouei announced the completion of the first phase of the project and the start of its actual production, stressing that it is one of the most important projects that will achieve the objectives of the National Water Security Strategy 2036.

He noted during a press conference held at the station that it was designed according to the highest international standards related to the field of water desalination.

The Director General of the Union for Water and Electricity, Muhammad Saleh, indicated that there are four main lines coming out of the new station: two of them will be extended to the new water distribution center in the Al-Khurija area in Ras Al Khaimah, one to the Al-Barirat Distribution Center, and another to Umm Al Quwain, pointing out that the production of The station will be used in the areas served by the Union Water and Electricity Company.
