Unsurprisingly, the three defendants are found guilty of unlawful assembly and incitement during the 2020 Tiananmen Massacre Memorial Vigil. The vigil has been held annually since 1989, but it was banned for the first time in 30 years. , in 2020 under the pretext of Covid-19.

A total of 24 people were arrested in connection with this unauthorized vigil of 2020 but the 21 others had pleaded guilty while
