It has long been clear that Bolagsskolan will be affected by deformations from the mining.

As early as 2012, it was discontinued as a primary school and the students were moved to other schools.

Many are affected

The Cultural School and the reception unit for newly arrived students are now housed in the main building and in a detached building there is a gymnasium which is used by several associations.

There, centimeter-sized cracks have begun to appear and LKAB now wants the municipality to empty the premises, preferably in the coming year.

In another detached building there is a preschool that is not affected at all.

- You can see it as an early flagging.

We currently assess that it is safe to stay in the building, but we of course want to investigate this further with the help of building construction expertise.

Now we take the safe before the unsafe and prepare to be able to close, says Joel Ahlquist, project manager at LKAB's social transformation unit.

"Not the taxpayers' responsibility"

Kiruna municipality has been asked to start relocating the tenants.

Municipal councilor Gunnar Selberg is, however, prepared to send the request back to LKAB.

To NSD he says:

- It is LKAB that will step forward and take responsibility, the taxpayers will not have to take responsibility for this.

The company school in Kiruna is closed due to the crack formation.
