Regarding the burden of medical expenses for medical expenses aged 75 and over, which is 10% in principle, the government has begun to consider raising it to 20% for people with an annual income of 2 million yen or more from October next year. ..

Currently, the burden on medical expenses for the elderly aged 75 and over is 10% in principle at the counter, but as social security expenses continue to grow with the aging of the population, the burden on the working generation will increase. In June, a revised law was enacted to raise the burden on the counter to 20% for people with an annual income of 2 million yen or more.

According to the revised law, the start time of the increase will be within half a year from October next year, and the specific schedule will be stipulated by the Cabinet Order in the future, but the government has begun to consider raising it from October next year.

If the increase is started in October next year

, the government is expected to reduce

the burden on the working generation by about 30 billion yen in the

latter half of next year

by about 40 billion yen.

Based on this, we are proceeding with the work of formulating a budget plan for the next fiscal year.

However, from within the ruling party,

there are concerns that

▽ the House of Councilors election is coming up next summer, and that it should not be urgent to impose an additional burden on the elderly, and

▽ there is a concern that it may invite more refraining from receiving medical examinations due to the corona.

Therefore,

the

government will finally decide when to start, taking into account the future of discussions.
