The Ministry of Finance has announced that it will sell its nationally owned office buildings in central Tokyo.

The sale amount is expected to greatly exceed the book value of 240 billion yen, which is expected to be the largest amount of real estate owned by the government.

The sale was announced for the office building in the redevelopment area called "Otemachi Place" located in Otemachi 2-chome, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, which is owned separately by the national government.

Until 2013, in the place where the "Communications Museum" was located, two office buildings with more than 30 floors above the ground opened three years ago due to redevelopment, one of which and a part of the floor where commercial facilities are located. Owned by the country.

The Ministry of Finance plans to bid through financial institutions in the next fiscal year and sell them all at once, and will use them for a part of the revenue in a difficult financial situation.

The building is located in a prime location in the office district near Tokyo Station, and the sale price is expected to greatly exceed the book value of 240 billion yen if the current real estate market conditions continue.

The largest amount of real estate sold by the government so far was 180 billion yen on the site of the former Defense Agency building in Minato Ward, Tokyo, which is now a large-scale complex "Tokyo Midtown".

This time, it is expected to exceed this and become the largest amount ever.
