According to the latest data released by the Indonesian National Disaster Relief Agency on the evening of December 5, local time, the death toll from the eruption of Semeru volcano has risen to 14, and another 56 people were injured, of which 35 were seriously injured.

At least 1,300 people have been forced to move.

Hundreds of houses were damaged and some roads were interrupted.

  On the afternoon of December 4, local time, the Semeru volcano in the eastern part of Java Island, Indonesia, erupted violently. The eruption was accompanied by thunderstorms, causing the volcanic ash to form a thick slurry, covering many villages and towns.

The disaster made the surrounding areas of Candipuro, Pronogivo and Passirian become the hardest hit areas.

  So far, the local government has established 17 refugee relief points around the volcano. A total of 5,205 people have been affected by the eruption of Semeru Volcano, of which 1,300 are living in shelters.

According to a report from the local monitoring department, the fall of volcanic ash began to decrease at around 10 o'clock on December 5.
