According to Danyuk, the fact that the talks lasted just over two hours indicates that the agenda was "quite extensive" and that both sides "heard each other." 

He explained that the very fact of these negotiations is "important and constructive."

“The very fact that they took place against the background of information hysteria about the“ war, ”the Russian“ invasion, ”suggests that diplomacy for both sides, including Washington, is a much more important and significant tool ... This is in fact, a positive signal, ”said the expert.

In turn, Vladimir Olenchenko, Senior Researcher at the Center for European Studies, IMEMO RAN, stressed that the very fact of negotiations is of "global significance", since "a lot depends" on the relationship between Russia and the United States.

In addition, the specialist noted that the agenda included issues that "are in the focus of international attention."

The analyst also expressed hope for the continuation of the dialogue and further development of the topics discussed at different levels.

"That is, the continuation of contacts both at the level of the leaders of the two states, as well as at the level of relevant departments, and for negotiating at the expert level," the interlocutor of RT concluded.

Earlier, the White House press service reported that during the talks via video link, Russian President Vladimir Putin and American leader Joe Biden discussed strategic security, the situation with cyber attacks, as well as joint work on regional issues, in particular Iran.

Biden, during talks with the Russian leader, noted the concern of the United States and its European allies in connection with the alleged "build-up of Russian forces" on the border with Ukraine. 

The talks between Putin and Biden in the format of a video conference ended, they lasted a little over two hours.
