Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, December 6 (Reporter Tian Xiaohang) Since the completion of the revision of the Population and Family Planning Law in August this year, many places in my country have successively initiated the revision of local population and family planning regulations.

According to incomplete statistics, more than 20 provinces including Beijing, Sichuan, and Jiangxi have completed the revision of the population and family planning regulations of their provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government). The addition of parental leave and extension of maternity leave have become bright spots.

The reporter combed through the revised population and family planning regulations of various provinces and found that in terms of holiday protection, the main measures in various regions include the addition of parental leave, extension of maternity leave, marriage leave, and increase of paternity leave and nursing leave.

For example, regarding parental leave, the regulations of Sichuan, Zhejiang and other places stipulate that each parent of infants under 3 years old enjoys a cumulative total of 10 days of parental leave each year.

Some provinces have stronger support. For example, the regulations of Anhui Province stipulate that before their children reach the age of six, couples are given 10 days of parental leave each year.

In terms of maternity leave and paternity leave, Shanxi’s regulations stipulate that on the basis of maternity leave stipulated by the state and this province, the woman will be rewarded with an extended maternity leave for 60 days, and the man will enjoy 15 days of nursing leave; In addition to the prescribed maternity leave, an extended maternity leave for 60 days is enjoyed, and the man enjoys a paternity leave for 15 days.

In terms of birth registration services, the revised population and family planning regulations of some provinces have clearly introduced provisions to support birth.

For example, the regulations of Jiangxi Province clearly implement the birth registration service system; the regulations of Jiangsu Province stipulate that during pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding, women enjoy special labor protection and can receive help and compensation in accordance with relevant regulations.

"There must be a reasonable sharing mechanism for childbirth costs, and the government should play a leading role." said Yang Wenzhuang, Director of the Population Monitoring and Family Development Department of the National Health Commission. Related supporting measures such as childcare allowances and corporate tax reduction and exemption should be kept up in a timely manner. Governments at all levels should increase support for childbirth, make a difference, actively invest in population, family, and childbirth fields, protect the rights and interests of women and children, and take multiple measures to promote The long-term balanced development of the population.
