The municipality or the principal at a free school is obliged to arrange mother tongue instruction if at least five students, who have both or one parent from another country, want instruction.

The School of Knowledge in Borlänge has offered this so far, but from the turn of the year, mother tongue teaching will be discontinued in 15 different languages.

According to the school, there are fewer than five students in the languages that are closed.

Must change school to be taught

The headmaster of Borlänge municipality, Patrik Bergström, believes that students who now go to Kunskapsskolan can receive mother tongue instruction in a municipal school - but only if they choose to change school.
