When it gets icy and slippery on sidewalks and streets, it is noticeable directly on the orthopedist.

- Right now we have a very high pressure.

When it becomes slippery in this way, you injure yourself, says Rebecca Nobin who is chief physician and operations manager at the orthopedic clinic at Länssjukhuset in Kalmar.

Patients age

The many icy places, especially in urban areas, affect most people, the patient flow is the same at all ages, with the exception that children do not get injured as often.

The most common injuries are wrist and ankle fractures.

- In this situation we are in now, of course we want it to be sanded and graveled as soon as possible where people need to go, says Rebecca Nobin.

Stay inside

How much the number of patients has increased can not yet be said, the statistics have not been added together.

But at the orthopedic they have to work for high pressure, and the call to the public in the slippery slope is clear.

- Avoid going out if you do not have to today.

But if you go out, feel free to use spikes and remember to walk carefully, says Rebecca Nobin.
