Eric Zemmour held his first campaign meeting this Sunday, five days after officially declaring that he was running for the Elysee. Violence erupted in particular at the beginning of the candidate's speech, when a dozen SOS Racisme activists present in the public unveiled T-shirts comprising the slogan "no to racism".

An investigation was opened into "the acts of violence committed inside the meeting" of Eric Zemmour on Sunday at the Villepinte Exhibition Center (Seine-Saint-Denis), the Bobigny prosecutor's office said on Monday.

Entrusted to the Departmental Security, the investigations relate in particular to violence against SOS Racisme activists present at the first public meeting of the presidential campaign of Eric Zemmour and on the contention of the candidate by an individual before his entry on the scene.

The man was immediately exfiltrated and then arrested by the police.

Eric Zemmour's entourage said in the evening that he suffered from a wrist injury and had been prescribed nine days of temporary work interruption (ITT).

Knocks and throws of chairs

Violence also erupted at the start of the candidate's speech when a dozen SOS Racisme activists present in the public unveiled T-shirts comprising the slogan "no to racism".

They were beaten and targeted by throwing chairs, according to the video released by the anti-racist association.

Several chases took place at the back of the room to exfiltrate them, in great confusion.

The situation returned to calm after about ten minutes.

A member of the security of the evoked "some militants antifa" exfiltrated, reproaching them to have wanted to sow the disorder.
