The bulk carrier, which is anchored in the water off the island of Vinga, started burning at two o'clock on Saturday afternoon.

The load consists of tightly packed wood which makes it difficult to access.

- We do not really get the effect we would like and need to overcome the fire, says Mattias Lindholm, press spokesperson at the Coast Guard.

Another ship from the Coast Guard has come to help with the firefighting work.

Tugboats also work with the extinguishing work, and according to Mattias Lindholm, you do not need additional vessels.

- It will be too crowded by the fire if you were to use more ships, he says.
