05 December 2021 "We aim to bring Tim back on a growth trajectory" by guaranteeing investments, workers and setting the conditions to make the most of all the opportunities that will be created with the PNRR ". Thus Vivendi's spokesperson in an interview with La Repubblica .

"Vivendi is interested in any solution that promotes the efficiency and modernity of the network, while preserving the value of its investment" explains the spokesperson of the French group, the largest shareholder of Telecom Italia with 23.8% of the capital. "In this perspective, the hypothesis of state control of the network, if it were preparatory to a strategic project led by institutions, will certainly be evaluated with openness", Vivendi says, thus making it clear the willingness to take a step back from the main asset of the group, i.e. its network infrastructure, considered strategic by the government.

Last Wednesday, Vivendi's top management met those of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, a 9.8% shareholder of Telecom, to discuss the company's prospects and the informal, friendly and non-binding offer of the American fund Kkr, which aims at 51 % of the company and to withdraw the stock from the market, but is ready to acknowledge that control of the network remains public.

"Vivendi is a reliable and long-term shareholder, a harbinger of a constructive dialogue aimed at strengthening Tim, with the aim of working alongside Italian institutions in the interest of all stakeholders", explains Vivendi's spokesperson.

"The priority is that the company returns to being the protagonist of development and innovation, we aim to bring Tim back on a growth trajectory".

From this point of view, the French group would not hinder the creation of a single network, which would arise from the merger between Tim and Open Fiber, a competitor company 60% controlled by CDP.

"We need to combine the country's necessary technological innovation with the relaunch of one of the most important Italian groups".
