Demonstrations continued in Aden (southern Yemen) for the sixth day in a row, calling for improving living conditions and services in the city. The merchants of Taiz also announced a partial strike;

Protest against the collapse of the currency in the country.

A demonstration took place in the Crater neighborhood of Aden, during which the demonstrators chanted slogans calling for improving services, limiting the collapse of the Yemeni riyal and increasing prices.

The protesters also raised slogans against the Transitional Council, the Yemeni government, and the Saudi-Emirati coalition forces.

Forces affiliated with the Transitional Council launched a campaign of raids and arrests, Thursday evening, in the districts of Dar Saad and Mansoura, against the background of the protests that took place in Aden during the past days.

A few days ago, the governorates of Aden and Hadramout have witnessed angry protests denouncing the deterioration of services and the significant rise in food prices due to the unprecedented deterioration in the history of the local currency, as the price of one US dollar exceeded two thousand riyals.

With the decline of the riyal, the suffering of the population worsened, and the value of the salaries of many categories reached less than $100.

The demonstrators expressed their dissatisfaction with the performance of the internationally recognized government, as it did not take any solutions to the crises afflicting the governorates it controls.

The Governor of Hadhramaut, Major General Faraj Al-Bahsani, announced last Thursday a partial curfew in the governorate from eight in the evening until six in the morning, and the media office of the governor said that the application of the curfew will continue until further notice.

strike in Taiz

The merchants of the city of Taiz (southwest of Yemen) announced a partial strike, starting from Saturday, in protest against the collapse of the currency and the continuation of the siege imposed on the city.

The Taiz City Traders Confederation (a union entity) said - in a brief statement - that they will carry out a 4-hour strike on Saturday.

The merchants vowed to continue the escalation and strike if their demands were not met, to put an end to the collapse of the national currency, to end the siege on the city, and to find real solutions to stop the deterioration of the economy.
