Ómicron UK returns to PCR and quarantines on arrival after two cases of the new variant
The United Kingdom
has decided to reimpose an antigen test or a PCR before shipping to the country even those vaccinated against
Covid
with a full schedule as of December 7, as reported by Health Secretary
Sajid Javid
.
The announcement comes a few hours after the Secretary of
Transportation Grant Shapps
assured that the tests were not going to be reimplanted, which has reactivated criticism against the Government of
Boris Johnson
for the confusion created by the new measures before the alert unleashed by the
omicron variant
.
Travelers arriving in the UK are also required, even if vaccinated, to undergo a PCR on the second day of arrival and to quarantine until the results are known.
The British Isles thus once again become one of the destinations with the most restrictions for travelers in Europe.
The British Government has also decided to add
Nigeria
to the recently reopened 'red list', which includes a dozen African countries with a high incidence of the omicron variant.
