China News Service, December 5, reported that the seventh round of comprehensive agreement talks on Iran’s nuclear issue was temporarily adjourned on the 4th. Iranian negotiators said that the solution proposed by Iran had not been accepted by all European parties, while the indirect participation of the United States accused Iran is not serious about resuming the implementation of the agreement, so it stopped negotiations.

On the other hand, the Iranian air defense force conducted an air defense exercise near the Natanz nuclear facility on the 4th, test-fired a missile, and caused a huge explosion in the air.

An explosion was heard near Iran's nuclear facility

According to Iran’s official news agency, a huge explosion was heard over the city of Badrud, which is only 20 kilometers away from the Natanz nuclear facility, on the 4th.

Witnesses stated that “the residents of Badrud heard the explosion and saw strong light, indicating that an object just exploded over the city”.

But the air defense commander of the Natanz area said: "An hour ago, the missile system in this area was tested and prepared for war. There is nothing to worry about."

It is reported that Iran’s Natanz uranium enrichment facility is almost completely underground, protected by reinforced concrete covered with soil.

Is the seventh round of

Iran nuclear talks deadlocked?

According to a report by Agence France-Presse, the seventh round of talks on the comprehensive agreement on Iran’s nuclear issue was temporarily adjourned.

Iran and other countries resumed negotiations in Vienna a few days ago, but the US Secretary of State Brinken accused Iran of not being serious about resuming the implementation of the agreement, and therefore stopped the negotiations.

A senior U.S. official stated on the 4th that the U.S. does not accept Iran’s “continue to develop its weapons program while obstructing the negotiations on the nuclear agreement”.

He said that the United States has not yet decided to withdraw from the indirect participation in the Iranian nuclear talks, and hopes that Iran can return to the negotiating table as soon as possible and conduct serious dialogues.

Iran’s chief negotiator on the Iranian nuclear issue, Ali Bagheri, said that the solution proposed by Tehran during the Vienna nuclear negotiations has not been accepted by the European parties in the nuclear agreement.

Bagheri added, “European parties are already dissatisfied with our proposals, but the important thing is that these proposals are based on mutual principles.”

But he believes that Europe’s position is normal, because Iran’s proposal “is in accordance with our interests and policies, not based on their views”.

In July 2015, Iran reached an Iran nuclear agreement with the United States, Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany.

In May 2018, the US government unilaterally withdrew from the Iran nuclear agreement, and subsequently restarted and added a series of sanctions against Iran.

Since May 2019, Iran has gradually suspended the implementation of certain provisions of the Iran nuclear agreement, but promised that the measures taken are "reversible."

The talks between the parties involved in the Iranian nuclear agreement began in Vienna in April this year to discuss the issue of the United States and Iran resuming the implementation of the agreement.

Due to serious differences between the United States and Iran and the change of leadership of the Iranian government, the talks were suspended after six rounds.

A new round of talks will be held in Vienna on November 29.
