As France crosses the fifth wave, rallies were taking place all over France in defense of the public hospital, in particular to demand an end to the closures of beds in hospitals and better working conditions for caregivers.

In Paris, many health users got involved.

"Beds and posts for the public hospital!"

chanted thousands of demonstrators Saturday across France, who came to defend the French health system.

At the head of the procession, without blouse or banner, the users of the Mayenne hospital.

They called for the rally, because for lack of healthcare workers, they saw their health services gradually closed, forcing them to refer to the hospital in Laval, further south.

"I was hospitalized two nights in a row for emergencies, I took my car and five minutes later, I was there. If we have to travel 50 kilometers to get treatment, there will be people who will do more than 100 km ", testifies a demonstrator.

"In any case, Laval is not able to respond to the entire department", assures a dissenter.

"We are putting lives at risk," says another protester. 

Alain Rondeau is the mayor of the village of Jublains, he traveled 3 hours and 30 minutes to Paris to ruminate on his concerns.

"When you have a person who has a stroke, it's 20 minutes to intervene. The more we close the emergency room, the further it will be necessary to go, the more we put people in danger," he scolds.

Leaving the Pays de Gex, at the Swiss border, Liliane came here to shout her feeling of abandonment: "It is an immense anger and also a fear of being confronted with an illness and an urgent need that will not be satisfied. ".

The demonstrators demand more resources, more proximity.

A delegation was received by an adviser from the Ministry of Health on Saturday evening, without result.
