Presidential in Gambia: Adama Barrow reelected for a second term

Adama Barrow's victory was announced this Sunday evening by the chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission.

According to the overall results announced, the outgoing president won with 53.2% of the vote.

According to the overall results announced, the outgoing president wins with 458,519 (out of some 900,000 voters).

Far ahead of his main competitor and former mentor, Ousainou Darboe with 238,253 of the votes. 

The wait for the results was long

, the partial figures being announced in a dropper since the night before.

Even before the official announcement of the overall results, Ousainou Darboe made a statement from his home, along with other unfortunate candidates, to criticize the slowness of the process, the deadline for the publication of these results, more than 24 hours after the closure polling stations.

The NPP, the party of the outgoing president, called on its activists to come and celebrate the victory in the center of the capital, near the presidential palace.
