At the Defense, Jean-Luc Mélenchon mobilizes this Sunday his activists facing the right and the far right, and wants to show that he can "unite from the base", failing to do so with the other contenders left at the Elysee.

The candidate of rebellious France, who had reached nearly 20% of the votes in the 2017 presidential election, narrowly failing at the gates of the second round, has the hope this time to achieve it.

Jean-Luc Mélenchon is holding his first meeting this Sunday at La Défense called "L'Union populaire".

France's Insubordinate candidate for the presidency of the Republic launches his great movement: a common house intended to house personalities of the left beyond his own political family.

In this sense, he intends to assert himself as the great leader of the French left.

His mission this Sunday is indeed a real show of force.

And the rebellious candidate assumes it: "We want to show that we are there, it is not just Zemmour".

A direct allusion to the meeting of his opponent which is also held this Sunday just 20 km away.

But the tribune of the left is not only attacking the right.

He also intends to demonstrate that in his camp, he alone is capable of bringing together more than 3,000 people.

Capture the useful vote

Jean-Luc Mélenchon wants to let people know, his entourage attacks.

"Hidalgo has not managed to bring together more than 100 people from his tour in the provinces ... And Jadot has not yet organized a single meeting".

The strategy of everyone on the left is clear: no primary but the polls to decide between the candidates.

Mélenchon is well aware of this, credited today at 10% he must remain in the lead on the left in order to capture the useful vote during the first round of the presidential election.

A performance that he had already achieved in 2017, when he had gathered 20% of the voters, even if this result had been too insufficient at the time to qualify for the second round.

But the leader of the Insoumis is convinced, "it is a mouse hole but it will be enough in 2022".
