Regarding the handling of lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles, a team of government experts has pointed out that storage regulations are too strict, so we are starting to consider whether it can be relaxed.

Lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles cannot be stored in large quantities in one place because the "electrolyte" used as a material is considered to have a risk of fire under the Fire Service Act.

On the other hand, the business community has pointed out that storage regulations are too strict, which hinders the spread of batteries.

For this reason, a team of government experts considering regulatory reforms in areas such as renewable energy will resume discussions within the month and begin to consider whether restrictions on battery storage can be relaxed.

The team of experts will also discuss deregulation in areas such as solar and wind power.

The policy is to compile an implementation plan and submit it to the government by June next year.
