Ahead of a wedding in Laholm municipality in August 2020, a wedding guest was attacked with a knife.

Three men were charged with attempted murder and convicted at Halmstad District Court for aggravated assault and assault.

Appealed in the Court of Appeal

The Court of Appeal for Western Sweden later acquitted two of the men on the grounds that it is not possible to establish that they participated in the knife attack.

The Chancellor of Justice has now decided that one of the men will receive compensation of SEK 155,000 for the five months he has been in custody.

The district court ruling against the third man, imprisonment for one year and eight months for aggravated assault, was upheld by the Court of Appeal - albeit with increased damages to the victim.
