Death suits him well. Mark Seibert looks brilliant at the same time. Just as you would expect from a stage star. Seibert has become one of them above all with the figure of Death in the successful musical "Elisabeth". “The role was good for me,” says the 42-year-old from Frankfurt, who grew up in Bad Homburg and went to school. And, still unconsciously, trained skills that would later be very useful for his stage career. “My big brother went to dance class and of course I wanted to. I came to the tournament dance through the children's dance group and was enthusiastic about it. Lots of tournaments, lots of titles and, above all, learned how to deal with both successes and failures, ”he remembers the formative years in which music also played a certain role:“My siblings and I have all learned an instrument, in my case the guitar. We made music at home and I played in a band with my brother. "

Despite his musical background, Seibert initially took a rather unmusical path after graduating from high school.

He started studying economics at Pforzheim University, which he soon broke off (and years later he still successfully completed his studies at the Hagen Distance Learning University).

Instead, he wants to try his luck with the entrance exams at various universities for the performing arts.

"I wanted to have tried and if I had failed everywhere I would have buried my dream of the stage on the spot," he says of his thoughts at the time.

It doesn't fail, it exists everywhere and suddenly has a choice: "I decided in favor of Vienna, not least because the culture in this city is very important."

Death makes him a star

Seibert completed his training at the Vienna Conservatory, with a focus on musicals, which he completed in 2005.

As a student he received his first engagements, which were soon followed by leading roles in musicals such as "Wicked - Die Hexen von Oz", "Der Schuh des Manitu" and "We Will Rock You".

From October 2011 he can then be seen in his famous role as Tod in the touring production of "Elisabeth".

And henceforth a star in the large German-speaking musical scene, which celebrates him not only for his star role, but also for his participation in other productions such as “Tanz der Vampire” or “Die Päpstin”.

In addition to his engagements in musicals in Germany and Austria, often lasting several months, Seibert also has many singers. He appears in various concert formats with selected musical hits, is on the road with solo programs, and he also publishes albums on a regular basis. This has proven to be a stable pillar during the first lockdown in the Corona crisis, as Seibert was even able to successfully offer streaming concerts last winter thanks to its loyal fan base.

But they are no real substitute for the stage experiences that Seibert is now looking forward to from Frankfurt.

The singer returned to his hometown a few months ago after years in Switzerland.

He and his wife became parents, so it is helpful to know the grandparents who still live in Bad Homburg are close by.

The next big engagements are also practically on the doorstep.

Seibert is one of the four soloists in the festive musical gala "Winterzauber", which he helped to design, and the Christmas program of the Alte Oper, and he will be the one in the premiere of the musical "Robin Hood" with the music of Chris de Burgh planned for next year in Fulda Play the main role.
