Fabrice, a homeless man in his thirties, said he acted without thinking, "as a citizen", and did not expect any reward.

Yet it is a heroic act that he accomplished Monday, November 29, in Old Lyon, saving a life at the risk of his own.

In the afternoon, an antique store caught fire on rue Monseigneur-Lavarenne, in the Saint-Jean district, after a petroleum radiator spilled in the shop, giving off thick black smoke visible several kilometers away. .

The 71-year-old junk dealer is caught in the flames.

Fabrice, homeless who stands at the end of the street, hears the call for help launched by a friend of the second-hand dealer.

He rushes into the burning shop to pull the man, already unconscious, onto the sidewalk.

The victim is now out of danger, but the young man has returned to the street.

To reward his gesture, a petition was launched, addressed to the mayor and the prefect, who already had 39,200 signatures this Sunday.

The signatories ask that the mayor of Lyon, Grégory Doucet, receive the young man, that he be given housing and a job, "in view of his act of bravery, which shows that even in the street we are integrated to the society ".
