A series of attacks and security incidents have taken place in northeastern Nigeria, which has been plagued by the insurgency of Boko Haram jihadists for more than a decade.

This Saturday, December 4, mortar fire hit a residential area on the outskirts of the large town of Maiduguri, without causing any casualties.

Two attacks targeting army positions in Borno State have also taken place in recent days.

Four explosions sounded at dawn on Saturday, on the edge of Maiduguri.

Mortar fire, which damaged a building and caused minor injuries, according to the press.

These shells were probably fired by the jihadists who surrounded the capital of Borno state.

Authorities have assured that the city's airport has not been targeted and that it is secure.

It had been months since Maiduguri suffered such an attack.

In February, mortar fire

killed ten people, including nine children, in a suburb of the large city in northeastern Nigeria.

These shots on the city are part of a black series, since 7 soldiers lost their lives Thursday in Rann, near the Cameroonian border, following the assault on their base by the jihadists.

The day before, five employees of the Ministry of Public Works and 15 civilians were captured, while they were traveling on a road near the Sambisa forest, bastion of the jihadists of Boko Haram.

The incidents come as the region's governor has ordered the closure of all government-run camps in the town of Maiduguri, in the hope that the thousands of displaced people who crowd there will return to their villages, even though their security is not guaranteed.
