Quadruple champion of the World Cup and victorious in four races out of five last season, the Frenchwoman (23) clocked the best time in the final but failed at the foot of the podium with 76.57 points, Olivia Giaccio winning with a total of 78.51 points ahead of Australian Jakar Anthony (78.17) and American Kai Owens (76.61).

This is the first time since January 2018 that Laffont has not entered the Top 3 of a World Cup race.

For men, the opening of the season did not smile on the French either.

Benjamin Cavet, vice-world champion, did not reach the final, the victory going to the king of the discipline, the Canadian Mikael Kingsbury, Olympic gold medalist in 2018 and winner of the World Cup since 2012.
