The Spanish Civil Code changes the relationship with animals, whether domestic or wild.

From now on, in the eyes of national legislation, animals will no longer be considered as “

things

” but as living beings that feel and suffer.

Already, several of the seventeen Spanish regions had included in their legal provision clauses favorable to animals, especially domestic animals.

But this time, it's a real step forward since the standard changes nationally and in the Penal Code.

From now on, no animal can be abandoned or mistreated and, another great novelty, can not be removed from its master in the event of separation or divorce from it.

In the latter case, will now be taken into account not only the interests of humans but also animals.

Satisfied animal movements

The animalist movements, and especially the Animalist Party, applauded with both hands a reform that it had demanded for many years.

In Parliament, almost all political parties supported this change.

With the notable exception of the far right of Vox for whom "

it is absurdity and stupidity, because it is a way of humanizing animals and therefore dehumanizing men

 ".

Another downside from rural associations, close to hunters, but not only.

They believe that this change in the Penal Code is suitable for people in cities, but much less for inhabitants of inner Spain.
