According to a police spokesman, one of the law enforcement officers, upon arrival at the scene, entered into a dialogue with an armed man.

“In the course of their communication, based on his statements, it was established that the incident was not related to terrorism,” TASS quoted a police spokesman as saying.

According to him, the detainee "intended to transfer some papers to the UN."

Earlier, the police said that a man near the UN headquarters may be armed with a shotgun.

UN officials were called on to take refuge in the field from behind an armed man outside the organization's headquarters.

The man was later detained.
