The 55-year-old man arrested on Tuesday confessed in police custody to being the author of the murder of Nadège Desnoix, which occurred in May 1994. Already convicted of sexual assault on a minor in 1997, then for acts of rape in 2002, he been indicted and remanded in custody.

The man arrested on Tuesday because his DNA, recorded in a case of domestic violence, corresponds to that found at the scene of the murder of a high school student in 1994 in Château-Thierry, in the Aisne, admitted to being the author of this crime and was indicted, the prosecution announced on Thursday.

"Arrested on November 30 in Ille-et-Vilaine where he works, the individual admitted during his police custody that he was the author of this fact" reported the public prosecutor of Soissons, Julien Morino -Ros, in a press release.

"The individual made spontaneous statements"

"Presented before the investigating magistrate, the individual made spontaneous statements by which he maintained his words", adds the prosecutor.

The 55-year-old man was indicted and remanded in custody.

In May 1994, the body lacerated by stab wounds of Nadège Desnoix, 17, was discovered at the edge of a path near the technical high school where she was a student in first class.

The teenager had not suffered sexual violence, according to the autopsy carried out after the fact.

Living about fifteen kilometers from her school, she had taken a bus very early in the morning to go to class.

Already convicted in 1997 for sexual assault on a minor

At the material time, the accused resided in Seine-et-Marne, about thirty kilometers from Château-Thierry, underlines Julien Morino-Ros.

His genetic profile, recently included in the national DNA file following a domestic violence procedure, corresponds to a male DNA profile taken at the scene of the crime.

New investigations have followed one another in the investigation of this "cold case" since the beginning of the year, new requisitions being taken to compare this DNA with those of the persons on file.

This man was convicted in 1997 in Meaux for acts of sexual assault on a minor and then in 2002, at the assizes, for acts of rape committed in 2000, indicates the press release of the prosecutor.
