The alert to the inhabitants was launched this Saturday by the SPA of Colmar (Haut-Rhin).

In a post on its Facebook page, the association said two dogs had been kidnapped in the market garden district.

These are in fact attempted theft, specifies France Bleu Alsace.

A German Shepherd was first targeted by four people traveling in a white van.

The dog defended himself and bit one of the thieves.

The latter then fled.

The second attempt took place on a property and concerns a Swiss Shepherd.

A man would have acted alone.

Two investigations opened

“Usually smaller dogs are targeted.

It is especially purebred dogs that are in demand.

The criminals use them as guard dogs or to breed and sell them illegally ”, explained to our colleagues a mistreatment investigator for the SPA of Colmar.

Two complaints were filed, triggering the opening of two investigations.

The SPA recommends that dog owners do not leave their pets unattended.
