Pope Francis has accepted the resignation of the Archbishop of Paris, Monsignor Michel Aupetit, the Vatican announced on Thursday in a press release.
At the end of November, after revelations from the press having attributed a liaison to him, the Archbishop of Paris Michel Aupetit proposed to the Pope to submit his resignation to him.
The prelate had been accused of having had an intimate relationship with a woman, which he categorically denied.
"Ambiguous behavior"
The diocese of Paris had however admitted that the archbishop had "behaved ambiguously with a person very present vis-à-vis him" in 2012, but that it was not a matter of a romantic relationship or sexual order.
The institution had underlined that Monsignor Aupetit had presented his resignation "because he understands that there may be a disturbance among the Catholics of the diocese".
